NEW TO NORTHFIELD - Junior Achievement Day
Wanted: Volunteers for Junior Achievement (JA) Day – March 22nd
Make a difference in the Northfield community and inspire a future generation of leaders by helping teach financial literacy lessons. All materials will be provided. You will follow the class schedule for the day so there will be breaks during related arts and lunch/recess.
This year, Northfield Elementary will be participating in Junior Achievement Day. JA is a national non-profit that helps bring community members into the classroom to teach our students about cities, towns, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, job roles, government, and more. It’s an incredible day for our students and the community, and we receive great feedback every year!
Junior Achievement has a network of volunteers they access to help teach the lessons, however, we would love to have NES community members sign up to teach! In order to have every classroom participate, we need 31 volunteers. All the curriculum, teaching guides, and materials will be provided to you, and the classroom teacher will be there the entire day to help.
There will be a training session held on the evening of Monday, March 4th from 6:30-7:30 PM or Wednesday, March 6 from 8:30-9:30 AM. Following the training session, you’ll need to spend a few hours looking over the material prior to March 22nd. In total, it’s a commitment of about 9 hours; 1 hour on March 4th or 6th, 2 hours prep work and 6 hours in the classroom on the 22nd. It is a great way to get to know our children while giving your time to our school.
