On Wednesday, we had approximately 70 students ride their bikes to school to celebrate Bike and Walk to School Week. On a typical day, we have 20-25 students ride their bikes. We also have many students that walk to and from school everyday, and many more chose to do so on Wednesday in honor of Bike and Walk to School Week. We would like to thank several of our community partners for helping us to celebrate and sharing their time and resources with our students. First, thank you to our PTA for supporting and helping to organize the event. Thank you, as well, to Race Pace Bicycles for coming out to perform bike tune-ups and helmet checks for students. Thank you to Mr. Chris Eatough, Bike and Pedestrian Coordinator for the Department of Transportation in Howard County, for supporting our event, handing out bike lights for students, checking helmets, and providing reading materials for students about safety. Thank you to Frank’s Produce in Elkridge for donating apples and oranges as a fresh fruit snack for our event.
As always, thank you to our NES families for joining us at the event and supporting our health and wellness initiatives. We are looking forward to our next Bike and Walk to School event on Wednesday, May 10th.
