Walk and BIke to School Day- Wednesday, May 9th

We are excited to announce our 3rd Annual Walk and Bike to School Celebration which will be held on Wednesday, May 9th. See below for a schedule of events.  If your children are safely able to walk or bike to school, please encourage them to do so.  We encourage parents and family members to join in on the fun, as well. This event is weather permitting.

8:15-8:35 AM- Walkers and bikers arrive to school while the 5th Grade Jazz Band performs by the bike racks.  Parents that are able to walk and/or bike with their students to school are encouraged to stay, bring a picnic breakfast, and enjoy the tunes from the grassy area in front of NES.

2:40-3:00 PM- Students who biked to school will be invited to hear a bike safety presentation in the MPR from the Howard County Government Dept. of Transportation Bike and Pedestrian Coordinator.

3:10-3:30 PM- After school celebration for all walkers and bikers.  Students will be able to have their bikes and helmets checked for safety from Race Pace Cycles, make smoothies using the Smoothie Bike (generously donated by Healthy Little Cooks) and fresh fruit (generously donated by the Horizon Foundation), and spin a wheel for fun prizes.  Students do not need parents present to participate, but please note, they will be home a little later than usual.
