Walk & Bike to School Day Poster Contest

Safe Routes to School Howard County is hosting its first Walk & Bike to School Day poster contest. We are looking for posters that address ways to walk and bike to school safely.

Deadline: Poster designs are due to Northfield by April 24, 2017. Winners will be announced by April 28th to be displayed for Walk & Bike to School day on May 10, 2017.

Rules for Poster Design

  • Students must create an original poster that represents the theme:
    • Ways to walk and bike to school safely
  • Limit one poster submission per student
  • There are two grade categories for judging: grades K-5 and grades 6-8.
  • Use an 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper for poster design
  • Students can use pencil, marker, crayon, and/or paint.
  • The name of student, grade, and his/her school should be labeled on the back of the poster.

Judging Standards

The winning posters will be selected by the Safe Routes to School Howard County Committee on an objective and non-discriminatory basis. Selection will be based on the poster’s creativity, originality, and how it addresses the theme of the contest. All posters submitted for the contest will become the property of the Safe Routes to School Howard County committee.

Prizes

  • One grand prize winner per school will receive a new bicycle with helmet.
  • Honorable mention award winners will receive a $25 gift card.
  • All winning posters will be displayed throughout participating schools and communities for the promotion of Walk & Bike to School Day.
