Honoring our Veterans

Mon, 10/31/2016 - 10:46am

Last year, due to a suggestion from one of our Girl Scout parents, we started a Veteran’s Day tradition.  On Friday, November 11th, we invite all students who participate in a Girl or Boy Scout program to come to school dressed in uniform at 8:20 AM for our 2nd Annual Veteran’s Day Celebration. We will play patriotic music while our scouts line the hallways and wave American flags upon the arrival of the rest of the NES students. Our celebration will end at 8:40 a.m. so that students can get back to class to start their instructional day. Girl and boy scouts who ride the bus can join their troop when they arrive or parents can bring their students into school on this day.

We’d also like to extend an invitation to all of our parents who have served or are currently serving in our nation’s military to come into NES on this day dressed in uniform.

If you are unable to join us for the celebration, we’d still like to honor our military families on the morning announcements from November 9th-11th.  Please complete this form if you’d like us to mention your name and child’s name over the announcements.  The form will close on Tuesday, November 8th so that we can prepare the announcements.  Thank you for your participation!
