Start with Hello!
Northfield has been a proud participant in the Start With Hello initiative for 4 years. Start with Hello (SWH) is a research-based program of Sandy Hook Promise. The Northfield Elementary School SWH program is focused on the growing epidemic of social isolation in our schools and communities, and empowering kids to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness within our school.
The NES Start with Hello Committee, made up of parents and school-based staff, plans various activities throughout the year to promote the vision and mission of Sandy Hook Promise. Please know that at no time are the events that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary discussed with students.
We will be kicking off our SWH program the week after Thanksgiving from 11/26-11/30. There are activities planned for each day of the week which will be shared via future emails and the Northfield PTA website.
On Friday, November 30th, we are hoping to end our SWH week with a grand finale and we need your help (and awesome connections) to make it possible! We are looking for people that students can connect with to record a brief video saying "Hello" to students at minimum or share a short message with students related to the importance of kindness and inclusion. The sky is the limit, but some people that come to mind that may fit the bill are coaches/scout leaders of Northfield students, first responders, members of our military, athletes, authors, community members in uniform, government officials, and the list could go on. Please work those connections or record a video yourself. We appreciate your help with this endeavor. We know the kids will love it! THANK YOU!
